ACT Community Assistance & Support Program (CASP)

Eligibility: To be eligible for CASP you must live in the ACT, be under 65 years and require home and community support for daily living activities due to a health issue.

Service description: The Community Assistance and Support Program (CASP) aims to enhance your health and wellbeing, and facilitate your independence and participation in the community. CASP provides you and your carer with support if you are finding daily living activities difficult due to a health issue. This health issue may be one that comes and goes (is episodic) or is short-term.

 
CASP will assist you by carrying out daily living activities for you, such as mowing the lawn or providing meals, or by supporting you to perform these activities yourself. These support services can help you to stay well and, where possible, prevent you from suffering a decline in health or needing to present to hospital. When you do go to hospital, these services will help you to return to your home safely following your stay.
 
Services can include: domestic assistance; food services; linen service; personal care; community participation and social support; counselling support, information and advocacy; carer support; minor home maintenance; and transport.

Service description:

DUO provide independent living service in and around Canberra, including personal, home and community support services.

  • Provides in-home support to the elderly, frail aged, people with disabilities and their carers in the ACT under the Commonwealth Home Support Program and NDIS.  Includes household taks; home modifications; personal care; linen services and companionship.
  • Provides respite, personal care and social support to children, young people and adults with disabilities, people living with mental illness, frail older people, and their families and carers living in the ACT community.

Squalor and Hoarding Support:

  • Episodic major cleans at a reduced rate and goal driven domestic assistance in conjunction with other agencies. Clients are required to have a commitment to working on goals.
  • Limited funding.
  • Support with activities of daily living, social support and respite for adults with mental illness and those of frail ages.

Service description: Speciailising in major cleans, end of lease cleans, forensic cleans (blood, sharps, faeces), infestations, ongoing domestic assistance for complex needs.

Service description:

Allsorts Organising are professional organisers who work with people in their homes. They can assist with any organising activities, big or small, in a respectful way, with complete confidentiality. They have experience in working with hoarders and the chronically disorganised and have completed specialised training.

  • Functional review of rooms and spaces

  • Project management for clean-outs, moves, preparation for sale and deceased estates

Service description:

WellSorted – Professional Organiser is a local business run by Virginia Wells. She offers decluttering and organising support to individuals in their homes and offices. This includes decluttering and organisation of cupboards, rooms, houses or office space. Beyond the physical space, she works with the client to uncover and release their deeper habits, beliefs and emotions sitting under the out layer of clutter. She assists clients with time management, business process improvement and filing systems. Virginia also runs workshops to clients and community groups relating to all things organising. She holds a Bachelor of Science, Psychology and will undergo training directly relating to hoarding support in July 2014.

Squalor and Hoarding Support:

  • Support role for people with hoarding symptoms and has acknowledged their condition and are directly seeking help
  • Support role to families of hoarders who have been left with a home to clean up once a relative has gone into care or passed away.
  • Referral to community groups and services as needed
  • General decluttering support for those overwhelmed which includes, mentoring & training, time management, meal planning, goal setting, business process improvements, filing systems, and workshops.

 

TAMS Bulky Waste Collection

Target Group:

You must show your concession card and proof of address to access the service.

One free collection per dwelling is available to eligible Concession Card holders during the trial.

Service description:

You must ensure that all bulky waste is kept inside your property boundary and in an easily accessible location.

If you live in a multi-unit development, you must contact your body corporate or managing agent to identify a suitable location for placement of goods for collection.

You must be present at the time of the collection (unless prior arrangements are made at the time of booking your collection).

The maximum amount of bulky waste to be collected per dwelling is two cubic metres (a double bed ensemble or two white goods or a three seater sofa).

Each item must weigh no more than 46kg and must be able to be lifted and handled by two members of staff.

You must complete an application form either before or at the time of collection.
